Police recovered the body of a 21-year old woman hanging from the ceiling of a locked room in a house here today.
The body of the woman, who was married three months ago, was found after breaking the door of the room.
While her family members have alleged that she was killed by her in-laws demanding dowry and one of her aunts lodged an FIR, her husband, who has been detained, said the woman had committed suicide, the police said.
The woman's in-laws were allegedly torturing her to bring dowry of Rs 5 lakh to set up a mobile phone shop, which she declined, the FIR alleged.
The inspector i-chrage of Bada Bazar police station Suresh Chandra Tripathy said the post-mortem report was being awaited to ascertain the cause of the death.
