A body of a 35-year-old woman has been found in a deserted well in Sukhchain Nagar here, police said today.
The deceased has been identified as Sunita Devi, a native of Ranchi in Jharkhand, they said.
Police have fished out the nude body from the well yesterday and sent it for postmortem to Civil hospital here.
Police said the deceased's husband Chintowati, a farm worker residing in Sukhchain Nagar, has identified the body, police said.
Chintowati told police that the body of a six-month-old girl, found from a plot in NRI Enclave on Phagwara- Sukhchain Nagar road on Thursday, is that of his daughter.
Police said he told them that his wife and daughter were missing since three days.
Foul play cannot be ruled out as the bodies of mother-daughter duo were found in the same area, police said.
Police are questioning some people and have detained one person in this connection.
A case has been registered and further investigations are under progress, police said.
