Two days after a three-year-old boy drowned after falling into a swollen nullah here, his body was found this morning.
The boy, identified as Bhagya aka Daggu, had slipped into the nullah, which was in full spate following heavy rains that lashed Bhopal on Tuesday.
"The body of the boy, who drowned in the nullah, was recovered from the shrubs near Ekant Park culvert this morning," Bhopal Mayor Alok Sharma told reporters.
Three hundred employees of the Bhopal Municipal Corporation and other agencies were a part of the operation that was launched to trace the child. Some divers were also a part of this exercise, he added.
Sharma said a financial assistance of Rs one lakh would be provided to the kin of the deceased, besides a house under the government's housing for all scheme.
The boy had slipped into the nullah around 11.30 am on Tuesday when he was playing outside his shanty in Panchsheel Nagar area of the city.
