Body of fish trader recovered in Uluberia

The body of a fish trader was today recovered in front of a school in Uluberia with his throat slit, a police officer said.

The body of Gour Debnath (35), a resident of Debnathpara, was found in front of Kulgachhia Primary school in Uluberia by residents this morning.

Debnath used to buy fish from the local market and sell it another market in Howrah town daily.

Police who arrived at the spot to remove the body faced protest from local residents who demanded that sniffer dogs should be pressed into service to bring the culprits to book, the officer said.
 

Police reinforcements were rushed from Uluberia town and the protesters relented after a two-hour long blockade in the area, the officer said.

The body has been sent for postmortem.
