Body of Indian-origin hotelier sent to UK

The body of an Indian-origin hotelier from Britain, who was found murdered earlier in a canal near Amabala, was today sent to England to his family members.

54-year-old businessman Ranjit Singh Power, from Wolverhampton in the UK, was killed allegedly by his friend and business partner Baldev Singh and another person on May 8.

"The body was sent to Delhi from here this evening, from where it would be flown to England to the victim's family to perform last rites," Assistant Police Commissioner of Model town Balvinder Ikbal Singh Kahlon said.

The body was found after around 23 days near Ambala, police said.
 

It was kept in a morgue for three three days after postmortem as the family members were supposed to come here, they said.

The victim's kin had authorised one Darshan Singh, UK-based person, a family friend to carry out the official works of bringing bac kthe body, police said.
