Body of man found in Anantnag

The body of a 25-year-old man was recovered from Jhelum river in south Kashmir's Anantnag district today, police said.

The body was retrieved from the river at Gadhanzpora in Bijbehara area of the district, a police official said.

He said the person has been identified as Firdous Ahmad Mir (25), a resident of Ari Goripora village of Kangan in central Kashmir's Ganderbal district. His identity was established though an identity card found in his pocket.

The body has been taken to sub-district hospital Bijbehara for medico-legal formalities, the official said.

He said police has registered a case and taken up investigation.
