A 25-year-old married woman, who went missing about a week ago, was found dead in Kulgam district of south Kashmir today, police said.

The body of Sumaira Jan, a resident of Babdar-Fathapora village, was recovered from an open field near Mir Bazar in Qazigund area, 80 kms from here, a police spokesman said.

He said the body, which bore burn marks, was in semi-decomposed state and has been sent for post-mortem.

Sumaira was reported missing from Sher Bagh Anantnag hospital on May 8, the spokesman said.

He said a team of Forensic Science Laboratory experts were deputed to the spot for investigation.

"Some miscreants pelted stones at the FSL vehicle at Mir Bazar breaking windowpanes of the vehicle, but none of its members was hurt," the spokesman said, adding that police dispersed the miscreants and carried out the investigation.
