The body of a boy, buried as unclaimed after it was found floating in a river near Mettur Dam two years ago, has been exhumed on suspicion that it could be that of a boy who went missing Chennai.

Police today said they exhumed the skeletal remains and sent them for forensic analysis after the Chennai police zeroed in on the unidentified body by matching details available in the state Crime Records Bureau.

Vinoth, adopted son of a Chennai-based couple, is missing since February 10, 2014 and a case was registered by Chintadripet police and efforts were on to trace him.

Meanwhile, Chennai police got to know about the unclaimed body of a 15-year-old boy, who allegedly drowned in a river near Mettur Dam in March 2014.

A police team along with the parents arrived in the district and after obtaining due permission from the district administration, the skulls and bones of the boy were unearthed and sent to Chennai for forensic analysis to ascertain the identity, they said.
