Body of missing woman recovered from Jhelum river

Body of a woman, who went missing over a week ago, was fished out today from river Jhelum in Bandipora district of north Kashmir, police said.

The woman was later identified as Neelofar by her relatives.

A resident of Chattabal locality in Srinagar, she was reported missing on June 23 and her body was seen floating in river Jhelum by some locals in Bandipora, 55 kms from here, this morning, a police spokesman said.

Police rushed to the spot and fished out the body, the spokesman added.

Later, the body was handed over to her relatives for last rites after completion of all medico-legal formalities, he said.
 

Police were enquiring the case to ascertain the cause of Neelofar's death.
