Body of one of four missing fishermen found

The body of one of the four fishermen reported missing off Beypore coast when their vessel capsized after it was hit by a ship, has been found, a naval official said.

The man has not yet been identified, they said, adding that his body would be brought to Beypore around 9 PM.

He was part of a group of six fishermen who had set out for the sea on the fishing boat 'Emmanuel' from Munambam near Kochi on October 11. Their boat started sinking around 8.00 pm, police had said.

Two of them, Xavier (58) and Karthik (19), were rescued by fellow fishermen in the vicinity. The duo and the injured fisherman of another boat 'Govind', which rescued them, were taken to a hospital in a Coast Guard vessel.
 

A Coast Guard release today said that search operations are continuing to locate the four missing fishermen.

Coast Guard Ship 'Abhinav' from Kochi and asmaller vessel (C-404) from Beypore were dispatched to thearea of the sinking of the fishing boat this morning, it said.

A Coast Guard Dornier aircraft and a naval helicopter were lso engaged in the search operation with three divers to check for the missing crew members, it said.
