Police suspect that the victim, aged between 30-35 years, might have been murdered somewhere else and her body dumped by the sewer near Raheja College, which was spotted by joggers at around 7:45 AM.

"The woman's throat was slit. It appears that she might have been murdered at some other place and the accused had dumped her body near the drainage," said an officer at Santacruz police station.

This is the fourth such incident in a month wherein an unidentified woman is found murdered.

Police had earlier this month recovered a woman's body in Mira Road area, while in another instance a gunny bag containing another body was found at an under-construction site in suburban Malad on August 9. In the third incident, a beheaded body of a woman was found dumped in the mangroves at Ambujwadi in suburban Malwani.
