Family members of 50 Indian Bohras stranded in strife-torn Yemen today urged New Delhi to get them evacuated from that country.

A delegation of Bohra community members rang up Lok Sabha Speaker and Indore MP Sumitra Mahajan and requested her to seek the centre's help in evacuating them from Yemen.

"She has assured us of all possible help from her in this regard," local Bohra community leader Hussain Ali said.

Fifty local Bohras left for Yemen from here on March 23, on a 21-day pilgrimage (Zeyarat), he said.

He said that the pilgrims landed in trouble during the first leg of their journey to Yemen and were putting up at an inn run by the Bohra community near Sanaa, the capital of the troubled nation.

"Our family members narrated their ordeal to us on social messaging service Whatsapp. The central government should take steps to get our family members evacuated safely from Yemen as soon as possible," he said.
