Turning back to roots, 'Kahaani'-man Sujoy Ghosh will make his next film for the Bengali audiences based on the locales of Kolkata, which came alive in the blockbuster capturing the Durga Puja in its full splendour.

Industry sources said work for the film, creatively produced by the Satyaneswhi sleuth of Rituparno Ghosh, may start this year itself with the working title being 'Reunion'.

"We have a film with Sujoy Ghosh planned next.." a top official from Viacom 18, the producers of critically feted and audience-backed Neeraj Pandey directed Special 26, will merely say.

However, the official did not disclose the title or subject of the film.

"We are producing two films in Telugu and Tamil. We have produced films for Punjabi and Marathi territories. After 'The Royal Bengal Tiger', starring popular Bengali stars Jeet and Abir, we want to dish out our brand of cinema for the discerning Bengali audience yet again. But we are not into typical mass-based films at this moment," the official said.

"With the type of all India releases we had - like Sujoy's Kahaani, or Madras Cafe by Shoojit Sircar - the next Bengali project will be in sync with the sensibilities of the Bengalee audiences who have made the turnaround possible," Viacom 18 Coo Anjit Andhare said.

"As our forte lies in working with younger talent and telling new stories. Our strength lies in bringing differentiated cinema," Andhare said.

Ghosh and Kahaani-star Vidya Balan are also working together for a real-life character - bureaucrat Durga Shakti Nagpal - in a next film.
