Bollywood wishes Happy Independence Day

Several Bollywood celebrities including megastar Amitabh Bachchan, melody queen Lata Mangeshkar and actor Anupam Kher wished their fans on the occasion of 68th Independence Day of India.

"Swatantrata Divas ki hardik shubhkamanayein (Happy Independence Day)," Bachchan, 71, posted on Twitter.

Posting a link of her song 'Jai Bharati Vande Bharati', Mangeshkar tweeted, "Aap sab ko Swatantrata Diwas ki shubh kaamnaayein."

Actor Anupam Kher said, "Swatantarta Divas ke avsar per sabhi Baratvasiyon ko dher saari Shubhkamnaye... Happy Independence Day to every Indian in the world. Jai Ho."

Actor-director Farhan Akhtar and filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar hoped for peace and prosperity for the country.
 

"Happy Independence Day. Wish peace, progress & prosperity for all. Jai Hind," Akhtar posted.

Bhandarkar said, "Wishing all my fellow Indians, a very Happy Independence Day. Prosperity, progress & peace beckon upon a deserving nation. Vande Mataram!"

Veteran singer Asha Bhosle wished her fans with a simple 'Jai Hind' tweet.

Actress Anushka Sharma thanked the armed forces of the country saying, "Happy Independence Day to all my fellow Indians! Special thank you to all the jawans of the Armed Forces."

Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur said rather than celebrating freedom on one particular day, it should be observed everyday.

"Independence is not an event. It is a constant evolution. A Nation does not become Independent. Its people do. Every single one of them equally," Kapur said.

Music director Vishal Dadlani urged people to free themselves from hatred and fear.

"Be Independent of the hate & fear that you are taught by politics & religion. That is true freedom. Jai Hind," he tweeted.

Director Farah Khan said, "This Independence Day let's all free our minds! Our country needs that most of all! Happy Swatantra Divas."

Filmmakers Sujoy Ghosh and Anand L Rai, actors Dia Mirza, Virr Das, Shahid Kapoor and music composer Shekhar Ravjiani also wished their fans peace and freedom.
