A bomb exploded at Mahabali Makha
Leikai (Kabui village) in Manipur's Imphal East district yesterday after an 11-hour search combing operation was conducted jointly by the police and Assam Rifles personnel at the same place.
In the morning, security personnel including Manipur police and Assam Rifles had conducted search combing operation at Mahabali Makha Leikai till 10 am for security sanitization work in view of the ensuing Manipur Sangai Tourism Festival, at the palace compound adjoining Mahabali Makha Leikai, where the bomb exploded, the police said.
The bomb exploded at about 8.30 pm yesterday at the residence of Ashiho Kamei (58) while he was having dinner.
Kamai received injury on his head and was rushed to hospital but was discharged after the first aid,
Soon after the bomb blast security forces dashed to the spot and conducted search operation but there was no report of any arrest so far, the police said.
Security sanitasation work have been taken up by the security forces for the ensuing Manipur Sangai Tourism Festival and 9th International Polo Tournament where Polo players from Australia, England, Thailand and USA are scheduled to take part in the international event to be held from November 22 to 29 next, sources said.
