In the second such instance within a week, a bomb threat call to the airport here turned out to be a hoax, with a 30 year-old man from Tiruchirappally being arrested for making the call in an "inebriated state."

The man, identified as Subramani, called up the police control room here and warned of blasts at the airport here, besides those at Madurai and Tiruchirappally, police said.

Subsequently, security at these airports was stepped up.

Police traced the call to Lalgudi in Tiruchirappally, following which Subramani was arrested for allegedly making the threat call in "an inebriated state," they added.

Earlier this week, the airport here received a hoax bomb threat and two persons were arrested in connection with it.

In the earlier incident, one of the accused had claimed during investigation that the other man had taken money from him in return for a job at the airport but had not honoured it.

The affected person had wanted to teach the other man a lesson and called up the police control room, telling them that the latter had shared with him plans of planting a bomb at the Chennai airport.
