Bombs hurled at PCR van, home guard injured

Miscreants hurled bombs at a police control room (PCR) van and injured a home guard in Kurunti village under Cuttack Sadar area in Odisha, police said.

Cuttack Deputy Commissioner of Police Akhileswar Singh told newsmen that miscreants had demanded extortion money from a local contractor, who had refused to pay and informed the police about it.

When the police team reached the village to investigate the matter yesterday it was attacked.

"Seeing the PCR van near the contractors house, some miscreants hurled bombs at it. A bomb hit the rear of the van and exploded breaking its glass. A home guard received minor injury in the incident but is now normal after undergoing treatment," Singh said.

 

adding the miscreants have been identified.

The miscreants have been identified and two persons have been detained at Cuttack Sadar police station and are being questioned, a senior police official said.
