After solving the porcupine riddle, crime-buster Bomkesh Bakshi and his assistant Ajit today hit the road trail in Deshopriyo Park area in a 'Janata Darbar'.

"As detectives we have to keep our ears tuned to the people, about what they say and feel about us. In fact we are not detectives but 'satyaneshwi' - truth searcher," Bomkesh aka Dhritiman Chatterjee told PTI here.

Happy with the adulation from the masses as elderly Bomkesh, Dhritiman happily posed with the young and the old as the shutter bags kept clicking at the special meet-the-audience programme at the premier single screen Priya theatre in the vicinity.

Pardip Mukherjee, another favourite actor of Ray apart from the Pratidwandi man, said every Bengali would identify with Bomkesh, the sharp-witted, methodical investigator as etched out by Saradindu Bandyopadhyay and his typical Bengali collaborator in solving crimes.

Actor Kanchana, portraying a group theatre actress, says it was a very different crime thriller with lots of literariness thrown in and she was happy to share screen space with Kaushik Sen, Konkona SenSharma and personalities like 'Sundarda' (Dhritiman Chatterjee).

Produced by Macneil Media Sajarur Kanta was released last week and having over 60 per cent occupancy in plexes and single screens in city and elsewhere.
