'Schindler's List' star Liam Neeson says his longtime friend Bono helped his sons cope with the death of their mother Natasha Richardson.

Richardson, 45, died in a skiing accident in 2009 and her sudden death left him to raise their sons -- Micheal, 19, and Daniel, 18, -- by himself. The couple had married in 1994 in New York, reported Us magazine.

"Bono is a pal, and he came 'round to have a dinner. And I remember he was sitting beside Micheal (one of his sons) and just out of the blue, he said, 'What age are you Micheal?' Micheal said, 'Thirteen.' And (Bono) said, 'Yeah, that's the age I was when I lost my mum.'", said the 'Taken' star.

"He was, like, saying, 'You know, I lost my mom at this age and I'm doing okay. And you will do okay, too.
