Book desecration: BJP seeks early arrest of culprits

Condemning the series of incidents of desecration of holy books in Punjab, the BJP,ally of ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today sought immediate arrest of those behind it.

A core committee meeting of Punjab unit of BJP unanimously sought strict action against the "sinners of holy 'bir' (scriptures) desecration."

Punjab BJP chief Kamal Sharma said, "Those who have committed this crime (sacrilege) should get exemplary sentence so that nobody dares to commit such acts which are threat to the hard earned peace of Punjab."

The meeting appealed to all the political parties of the state to maintain restrain, Sharma said.
 

The meeting was also attended by Union Minister Vijay Sampla, Cabinet ministers Chunni Lal Bhagat, Surjit Kumar Jyani, Madan Mohal Mittal and National secretary Tarun Chugh.
