A book on 'Soil Nutrient Mapping of Nagaland' was released at Integrated Extension Training Centre (IETC) campus at Medziphema in Dimapur district yesterday.

Proper management of soil is essential as earth is the most important component for healthy and productive cropping, said Nagaland Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture, Dr Benjongliba Aier while releasing the book.

He said assessment of soil fertility status with the help of advanced technology is a pre-requisite to achieve higher crop production.

Expressing hope that soil nutrient mapping would be of great help to the population especially the farming community, he urged them to use the soil nutrient mapping to its maximum potential.

The Parliamentary Secretary further said that the DAN Government under the leadership of Chief Minister T. R. Zeliang is doing the best possible thing to bring all round developments and progress at all levels in the state despite the limited resources.

The work of Soil Nutrient Mapping of Nagaland started on April 3, 2012 and was completed in October 2014.
