The National Commission for Minorities today asked the authorities to bring to book in the shortest possible time those responsible for the terror attack on the Mahabodhi temple in Bihar.
In a resolution passed by its Chairperson Wajahat Habibullah and four other members, K N Daruwalla, Ajaib Singh, T N Shanoo and Vinod Sharma, NCM said Bodhgaya is not only revered among Buddhists in India but across the world.
"It is among the most sacred sites for all Indians, whatever their denomination. It is from this location that sprang the Lord Buddha's message of karuna, a mainstay of India's civilisation throughout the centuries through the teachings of Lord Mahavira, St Thomas, Hazrat Nizamuddin and Guru Nanak Dev and revivified in our times by Mahatma Gandhi in his message of ahimsa," it said.
We appeal to the authority to ensure those responsible for this sacrilege are brought to account in the shortest possible time, it said.
