Books worth crore of rupees damaged in rains

Books worth more than crore of rupees in the different stalls of the Malda Book Fair have been damaged in the unseasonal rains that has been lashing the town since last night, Book Fair sources said today.

The Malda Book Fair was inaugurated in February 12 and will continue till February 18.

As during this time of the year it does not rain so the book stall owners and the Book Fair organisers did not took any precaution to make the stalls water proof, the sources said.

But since last night unseasonal rains have been been lashing Malda town. As a result thousands of books worth more than crore of rupees have been damaged in the rains, they said.
