"We the Left Front fully support the general strike. But we would like to appeal to the trade unions to keep the programmes of International Mother Language Day, which falls on February 21, out of the ambit of the strike. If a group wants to hold a programme they should be allowed to do that," Bose said.
CITU, INTUC, AITUC, BMS and Left-backed banking sector unions have jointly called the two-day countrywide general strike opposing financial sector reforms.
