"Total unity among LF partners has to be achieved and we have to take all out preparation for the panchayat polls. Unity of Left partners is paramount," Bose told reporters here.

Bose admitted that total unity had eluded the Left Front during the last panchayat election in 2008 when it was in power in the state and said it had cost some seats.

"If we take a lesson from the past and if the Front constituents have the political will, total unity can be achieved. LF partners have now shown that spirit," he said.

He said that initiatives have to be taken to achieve unity among Front partners at the lower level.

He also said that efforts have been taken to form booth level organisations which would be complete by the end of next month.
