Bosnian authorities say they have detained a retired Pakistani general who is accused of corruption in his home country.
Mirela Znaor, the head of the Interpol in Bosnia, said today that 80-year-old Zahid Ali Akbar was detained at Sarajevo Airport last week as he tried to enter the country. She says the extradition procedure is already under way.
A Pakistani court declared Akbar a proclaimed offender in 2007 and he has been wanted since then. Akbar was the chairman of the Water and Power Development Authority in 1990 and later he was also appointed as the chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board.
