Bournvita Quiz Contest back on air from August

Popular kids show Bournvita Quiz Contest is all set to make a comeback on the small screen to commemorate its 40th anniversary.

BQC will widen its reach even further and enable anyone with internet access and smart phones to play along live during the show. The show will be back on air this August on Colors channel.

This new path breaking season of BQC, will be hosted by Derek O'Brien.

"Bournvita Quiz Contest has been an integral part of my life for the past two decades. It gives me great pride, a feeling of nostalgia and a sense of excitement as I take on the mantle of returning as the show's host in its 40th year," O'Brien said in a statement here.
 

"I look forward to closely engaging with not only the contestants but also, millions of viewers across India through newer and enhanced communication platforms," he said.

The Bournvita Quiz Contest began in April 1972. Originally, held live in cities across the country, it later became a radio show and later a television show on Zee TV. Subsequently, it show was shifted to another television channel, Sony Entertainment Television.

The original quizmaster on the radio show was Hamid Sayani, a prominent Indian broadcast personality. After the first four years, Hamid died and the show was taken over by his brother Ameen Sayani. It then landed with O'Brien.
