A bid to smuggle bovines was foiled and 22 animals rescued in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir Monday, police said.
Based on reliable information, a police party signalled a truck to stop, officials said. The driver of the vehicle, however, stopped his his vehicle at a distance and fled, they said.
During the checking of the vehicle, 22 bovine animals, which were found illegally loaded and being transported to Kashmir, were rescued, they claimed. A case was registered and the vehicle seized, they said.
