Fantasy-comedy 3D film "The Boxtrolls" is leading the nominations for Annie Award after scoring 13 nods, while other flicks such as "Big Hero 6" and "How to Train Your Dragon 2" also secure multiple nominations.

The DreamWorks Animation flick has ten nominations, followed by the Disney pic and "Song of the Sea" with seven each, reported Ace Showbiz.

"The Lego Movie" scored six nominations. Pixar is notably absent from the nomination list because they have not released new flick since "Monsters University" which was out in 2013. They plan to release two feature films "Inside Out" and "The Good Dinosaur" in 2015.

The 42nd annual Annie Awards honours best animated works in films, TV and video games. The winners will be announced at a ceremony which will take place at UCLA's Royce Hall on January 31.

The full nominee list is available on Annie Awards' website.
