Boy beaten to death, hanged from tree

A 13-year-old boy was allegedly beaten to death and his body hanged from a tree by a man over a petty issue at Dhiran Chapra village under Bela Police Station area in the district, police said today.

Pradeep Paswan was thrashed to death and his body hanged from a tree by a man following an argument between them after his field was grazed by Paswan's livestock last evening, Senior Superintendent of Police Ranjit Kumar Mishra said.

The man was arrested and Bela Police Station in-charge Pradeep Chaudhary suspended for negligence of duty, he said.

District Magistrate Anup Kumar with police personnel camped in the village in the night to prevent any retaliation in the wake of the incident.
 

The district magistrate provided Rs 20,000 assistance to the victim's relatives under Family Benefit Scheme and Rs 3,000 for cremation purpose, the SSP said.
