Apparently depressed after his parents were summoned to his school over poor academic performance, a teenaged boy allegedly committed suicide by jumping into a well at Kadambankulam village near here, police said.
Body of the 16-year-old victim was recovered from the well today by fire and rescue service personnel, they said.
Balaguru, a student of class XII in a village school, was asked to bring his parents on Wednesday last as he did not get good marks in the latest monthly test.
However, he did not informed his parents. Later, his teacher warned him and insisted that his guardians should visit them on Friday.
Police claimed that the boy might have taken the extreme step, apparently afraid of taking his parents to the school.
