Boy critical after two iron rods pierce hips

A class XII student was critically injured in east Delhi today when two iron rods pierced through his hip when he fell from the second floor of his under construction house, police said here.

The incident took place around 2 PM in Ghazipur area when Arijit Chatterjee, who was standing on the terrace of his under construction house, accidentally fell on the two iron rods fixed in concrete on the first floor.

Police, with the help of disaster management agencies, rescued the boy after cutting the rods through a gas cutter and rushed him to a hospital with the remaining part of the rods lodged in his hip.
 

The student is said to be critical.

"We first took him to the Lal Bahadur Shastri hospital from where doctors referred him to the Noida's Kailash hospital where doctors will operate o him to remove the rods," said a police official.

It is not clear how he fell down, it could be that he fainted or slipped, he said.

Chatterjee studies in Salwan Public School. His father works with a multinational company in Nodia.
