A six-year-old boy was seriously injured Monday when he was mauled by a tiger in Arjuni village in Chandrapur district, forest officials said.

The incident occurred in a cotton farm close on the heels of a 60-year-old woman getting killed by a tiger last Saturday in the same area.

The injured boy is identified as Adarsh Hanwate, they said, adding that the tiger dropped the boy after his father rushed to the spot with a rod.

He was rushed to a hospital in Warora and later shifted to district Hospital in Chandrapur.

His condition is reportedly critical.
