A nine-year old boy studying in third was killed when he was hit by a van, while taking reverse in Sundarapuram in the city today.
Vigneswaran was waiting for the van to go to school this morning. Without noticing that the boy was standing behind the vehicle, carrying kids to various schools, the driver attempted to reverse it and dashed against the boy.
The grievously injured Vigneshwaran was admitted to the Governrment Hospital, where he died some time after admission, police said.
The people in the area damaged the van and also broke the window panes, by pelting stones. However, police rushed to the spot and controlled the situation.
