The body of Deepak, a resident of Madanpur Khadar Village in south-east Delhi, was recovered this evening, a day after he was swept away.
He and his three companions, Badal, Premi and his cousin Pankaj, had gone to bathe in the canal yesterday evening.
"They were swimming near the deep waters of the canal. They tried to reach the bank but were probably swept away by the strong water currents," a senior police official said.
At about 4.30 pm, they found Deepak's body near the village.
