The boyfriend of movie director Cheran's daughter Damini today filed an application for anticipatory bail in the Madras High Court.
Damini had difference of opinion with her family members, after they refused to accept her relationship with her boy friend Chandru.
Cheran and his wife were against their daughter's relationship with Chandru.
She had left home and went to Chandru's place, after which the boy's mother handed her over to All Women's Police Station, anticipating trouble from Damini's family members.
The police then sent Damini to a government home in Mylapore. Chandru challenged the police move in a habeas corpus in the High Court, which later directed to send the girl to the home of a school Headmistress.
Meanwhile, Chandru moved the High Court seeking anticipatory bail, fearing arrest on the complaint Damini had made before these sequence of events.
The application is expected to come for hearing on August 16.
