Brain dead hotelier gives new lease of life to seven

Seven needy patients were given a new lease of life by transplanting the donated organs of 40-year old brain dead man.

P Dhamotharan, a hotelier in Modakurichi in Erode, was declared brain dead last evening at the Kovai Medical Centre and Hospital after he suffered severe head injuries in a road accident on March 13.

As the deceased's family volunteered to donate the organs, a team of doctors from KMCH and government hospital here swung into action and harvested the heart, liver, kidneys and eyes, a KMCH release said today.

THe organs were transplanted to seven needy patients, the it added.
