The 27-year-old singer said she used every spare moment between her high-energy tours and shows to fly back to LA to be with her husband, but Brand was not coming over to see her.
When asked if this was the reason for the split, Perry said, "Yes, if I could edit it any other way I would, but that is exactly the way it was...
"Touring is always important to me. It's like a big IOU to my fans, because I know they are the reason I exist."
Perry recently held the UK premiere of her 3D documentary movie "Part Of Me", which is a mixture of energetic concert footage and behind-the-scenes tears.
But while the video for her latest single 'Wide Awake' shows her in uncharacteristic gothic clothes and singing about "falling hard", Perry is not about to turn her back on her sparkly, fun persona, reported Sun online.
"I'd never devote a whole record to heartbreak. I'm happy, I'm in a good place, I'm looking forward to my future," she said.
Perry and Brand tied the knot in India in October, 2010. In December last year Brand filed for divorce to end their 14-month old marriage.
