Brass recovers in sluggish trade

Brass prices recovered in an otherwise sluggish non-ferrous metal market here today on stockists buying amid renewed demand from industrial users.

Meanwhile, tin, zinc and select copper dropped further owing to poor offtake from consumer industries.

At the global market, copper was trading almost flat in early trade, stymied by a strong US dollar emboldened by data showing the fastest rate of US economic growth in 11 years.

Brass utensils scrap moved up by Rs 2 per kg to Rs 326 from Tuesday's closing level of Rs 324.

Brass sheet cutting inched-up by a Re per kg to Rs 336.
 

However, tin fell by Rs 25 per kg to Rs 1,460 as against Rs 1,485 yesterday.

Copper scrap heavy declined by Rs 3 per kg to Rs 459 from Rs 462.

Zinc moved down by Rs 2 per kg to Rs 180 from Rs 182.

Copper armiture and copper utensils scrap softened by a Re per kg each to Rs 445 and Rs 423, respectively.
