Goa NRI commissioner Wilfred Mesquita today said the result of the 'Brexit' poll in the UK was "little unexpected", and it would directly affect the Goans who have settled down there using their Portuguese passport.
The British people today voted for exit from the European Union.
"Decision taken by British people was little unexpected for people all over the world as there were indications that they will vote to stay in the European Union," Mesquita said.

This would affect the whole world economically and especially the Goans working in Britain as they would now be treated as foreign nationals despite having a Portuguese passport, he pointed out.
Several thousand Goans are estimated to be living in the UK using the Portuguese passports.
