A wreath laying ceremony to commemorate the death anniversary of Brigadier Mohammad Usman, was organised today at Jamia Millia Islamia University Cemetery.
The function was attended by several retired and serving officers including Lt Gen N S Ghei, Commandant, National Defence College and Colonel of the Parachute Regiment, an official release said.
Late Brigadier Mohammad Usman, also known as the "Saviour of Naushera", was responsible for the recapture of Jhangar and Naushera (Jammu and Kashmir) during 1947-48 war with Pakistan.

Brigadier Mohammad Usman set an example of personal courage, exceptional qualities of leadership and devotion to duty in the highest tradition of the Indian Army and was thus, rightfully honoured with the Mahavir Chakra, the release said.
