Congress MP P L Punia today asked the government to bring a constitutional amendment in the current session of parliament to annul a Supreme Court order against reservation for faculty in superspeciality section in AIIMS.

Raising the matter during Zero Hour in the Lok Sabha, Puniya said the Supreme Court's judgement on reservation in super-specialty sections in AIIMS across the country was "an injustice" to the people belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.

Many members, including leaders from SP and BSP, also supported the demand.

Punia recalled Law Minister Kapil Sibal's assurance to the House that the government will file a review petition in the Supreme Court against the order.

Sibal had said if the order is not annulled, the government will bring a constitutional amendment in Parliament, Punia said.
