Bring everyone under National Food Security Act: Manik Sarkar

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar today said that the Central government should bring people from all sections of the society under the National Food Security Act.

"Around 40 per cent of the country's population remains out of the National Food Security Act. The Central government must bring people from all section under the Act," Sarkar said at a conference here.

"The Centre must ensure supply of 15 food items through Public Distribution System (PDS) at subsidised rate if it wants to control the price rise," the chief minister said.

Sarkar said that it is the common people who have to bear the brunt of rising prise rise but Modi government is not keen to reduce that burden.
 

He said that his government in the state has been spending Rs 17.18 crore every financial year to provide subsidy so that ration card holders could receive rice at Rs 2 per kg.
