Claiming that the Chief Minster's health insurance scheme in Tamil Nadu had some restrictive norms pertaining to dengue, the state unit of BJP today urged the government to relax the conditions and bring complete treatment modalities for the viral fever under the scheme.

"(Presently) only a serious condition known as Dengue shock could be brought under the Chief Minister's Comprehensive Medical Insurance Scheme, there are some conditions in availing the insurance benefits for whole dengue treatment," Tamil Nadu BJP President Tamilisai Soundararajan said in a statement here.

Urging the government to relax such restrictive norms, she said, "Such conditions should be relaxed enabling beneficiaries to avail insurance benefit for complete dengue treatment starting from preliminary stages."

"I urge the Tamil Nadu government to take immediate action," she added.

Claiming that the incidence of dengue had increased in Tamil Nadu, she wanted the government to make arrangements for providing special treatment for the disease in all state-run hospitals including those in rural areas.
