'Bring to book those dumping cracker wastes on roadside'

: Puthiya Tamizhakam today demanded the immediate arrest of those who dump cracker waste on the roadside, bursting of which it alleged was the reason for the death of six women at Meenampatti near Sivakasi.

PT resident and MLA, K Krishnasamy said some cracker manufacturers had thrown waste material on the road side, which caught fire around 7.30 PM yesterday when the workers were returning home.

Spark from the fire spread on the diesel tank of the van, which fell into a gorge and exploded, leading to the death of these workers, he said.

Krishnasamy demanded that the State Government bring to book those who dumped cracker waste illegally on the road.
 

He also demanded that Rs 10 lakh compensation be paid to the families of the deceased and Rs five lakh to those injured.
