British citizen sent to police remand

A court here today sent British national Jagtar Singh Johal to police remand for five days in connection with a murder case of Hindu Takht leader Amit Sharma.

The court of judicial magistrate also sent him in judicial remand in another case pertaining to firing at RSS Shakha in Kidwai Nagar.

On January 14 this year, two motorcycle-borne persons shot dead Amit Sharma near Durga Mata Mandir here.

In the other case, two persons had opened fire outside an RSS shakha in Kidwai Nagar at Shaheedi Park here on January 18, 2016. RSS worker Naresh Chauhan had a close shave in the incident and two suspects fled the spot.
 

Earlier, Johal's remand in the killing of church pastor Sultan Masih case had ended and he was sent in the judicial remand.

British national Jagtar Singh Johal alias Jaggi is among five persons arrested by the Punjab Police in connection with targeted killing cases, including that of RSS leader Jagdish Gagneja. Jaggi was apprehended from Jalandhar.

The police had claimed to have found Jaggi's alleged involvement in conspiracy, coordination, funding and arranging of weapons for members of KLF module, which was busted in connection with the targeted killings.
