A British mother of three was today sentenced to life after a Pakistan Court found her guilty of trying to smuggle 63kg of heroin out of the country.

Khadija Shah, 26, from Birmingham, had denied the charges against her. Khadija was arrested and jailed in August 2012 when she was heavily pregnant.

She subsequently gave birth to a baby last year but was denied bail and the new born remained in prison with her.

Khadija has two other young children who were with her at the time of arrest but have since returned to Britain.

Khadija was arrested at Islamabad airport and convicted of smuggling approximately 63kg of heroin.
