"Scans show Broad has bruised left heel. Was fit to field but could not bowl today. Progress will be monitored over next couple of days," said a spokesperson of the team.
Broad, who captained the side in the absence of regular skipper Alastair Cook, bowled only 10 overs yesterday because of the heel injury.
Broad's injury has increased the woes of the team after another pace bowler Steven Finn suffered a right thigh strain during the first warm-up game against India A played at the Brabourne Stadium between October 30 and November 1.
Finn bowled only four overs in that match and is now recuperating. But there are some doubts whether he would be available for the opening Test of the four-match series, commencing in Ahmedabad on November 15.
Following Finn's injury, the team management had called up Surrey pace bowler Stuart Meaker as cover.

Meaker will join the squad next week ahead of the four-day game in Ahmedabad (against Haryana from November 8-11) while Finn continues his recovery from a thigh strain, the team spokesperson informed.
The 23-year-old Meaker, who has been capped twice in the 50-over format will return to the England Performance Programme, once Finn is available for selection.
"Meaker's arrival date is subject to obtaining the necessary visa early next week," the spokesperson said.
