At the time when need for financial literacy for kids is being debated, a brokerage firm has launched story books on it for children above seven years.

"A set of five story books called Rupee Tales which attempt to familiarise and nurture young minds to basic financial concepts for children above seven years," its authour and vice-president of educational services of the brokerage firm Zerodha, Karthik Rangappa said.

"There is no material available to familiarise kids to basic finance. Being India's leading financial services firm, we felt it was our responsibility to change this," he said.

The concepts are elucidated through stories and vibrant illustrations, he said.

Each book deals with a specific topic and are peppered with lively characters. The concepts covered include savings, banking and inflation, taxes, insurance and stock markets.

The set of five books are priced at Rs 470, Rangappa said.
