A local court today sentenced the brother-in-law of a man to life imprisonment for setting him ablaze while he was asleep in his hut three years back, but acquitted his aged father.
The prosecution case was that the duo had borrowed Rs 70,000 from the man and got angry when he asked them to repay it. They then hatched a plan to kill him, poured kerosene over him on July 26 2011, while he was sleeping and set him ablaze.
Hearing his screams, his neighbours rushed him to hospital but he died the next day.
